It’s Baaaccck - MORE Buffalo Bills Starting Quarterback Speculation

What happens when you have a month before Buffalo Bills training camp starts and more than two months (65 days to be exact) before the 2015 NFL football season officially starts? Speculation and rumor run rampant. Take an article coming out today about Tyrod Taylor being Rex Ryan’s choice for starting quarterback or at least speculating he is favored to get the starting job. Hold on. Back up. Didn’t I just say training camp hasn’t even started yet? Well like any good pot-stirrer, the non-news is out so like any good opinionated fan like myself who happens to write for a fan blog I will respond.
I could do another top ten list of reasons why this speculation is just ludicrous. It is ridiculous on so many levels. Granted, it could turn out that in fact Tyrod is named the Buffalo Bills starting quarterback. Let him earn it or let Matt Cassel or EJ Manuel earn it. Even Matt Simms could get it at this point (yes I know it’s very unlikely). The point of all this is we can’t possibly know that. In the article mentioned above, it says Rex wanted Tyrod Taylor when he was the head coach of the Jets and Taylor was in Baltimore. In case you hadn’t noticed, Rex isn’t coaching the Jets anymore. Yes he has what some say WAS his man when he was with the Jets but this is a different team, a different time and for the most part a different Rex it appears.
In no way will I speculate (at least right now) who the starter may be. You shouldn’t either. I get it. You are bored. A lot of us are bored and antsy and want the season to start. Perhaps that is why all this is coming out, boredom. Let’s be smart though. Rex Ryan is. He will wait until he gives all the quarterback candidates a chance to prove themselves. Why? Rex needs to prove himself and this decision could be one of the biggest of his Buffalo Bills tenure. He isn’t going to rush it (even if he is a ground and pound offense kind of guy – sorry for the pun). We can speculate all we want to but the Pegulas didn’t hire us as the Buffalo Bills head coach. We keep talking about faith and hope this season so put a little faith in Rex. He will make a decision and it will be well thought out. Let training camp play out and then you might have some proof for the speculation as to who the starter will be. Rex will be the first to know and then the rest of us will unless of course you want to speculate about that too.
