Top Ten Buffalo Bills Game Annoyances

Since we have awhile still until the season starts, I decided to come up with my top ten (nod to David Letterman) annoying things that happen during Buffalo Bills games. Granted the first two are ones that I anticipate will happen and thus I added it to the list. This is by no means a knock on the Buffalo Bills. Clearly, I love the team. This is more of list of things that irk me or I find funny during the game. As a side note, I must mention I am a former journalist which is why you will notice a theme here.

10.) “Rex’s Last Stand” (or whatever it will be dubbed): You know it is coming. Every game, at least five times in the first minute the announcers will mention it.

9.) “Quarterback Decision”: No matter who is chosen, ask the announcers, it will be the wrong one. Oh wait, you won’t have to ask, they will tell you.

8.) “Ridiculous Stats”: These of course are more common during the playoffs but still come into play during the regular season. You know the ones I am referring to i.e. ‘2 out of 10 times the team that won the coin toss, deferred, and picked the endzone with red in it ended up winning the game’. Just don’t add any other variables. Their heads would explode.

7.) “Pile On”: No you were not involved in that tackle so don’t pretend like you were. Yes, those guys. The ones who jump on the pile of players after the player with the ball is already down and has been down for several seconds. We saw you not doing anything when the play happened.

6.) “Hands off”: The blatant calling card of a player albeit a defensive back, wide receiver or other player who when a flag is thrown due to an obvious foul, holds their hands back like ‘man it wasn’t me’. Why not just take the flag out of the refs pocket and throw it yourself?

5.) “Blame Game”: It happens at Buffalo Bills games and every NFL game. It is that point where one of the players on the line jumps early, the whistle blows and all the finger pointing begins on each side. It is the ‘it was him’ point. It drives me nuts. It happens every time during every game. Just watch.

4.) “Wide Right”: Okay guys enough is enough. Announcers stop mentioning every chance you get. You’ve been doing it since 1991. Stop with the salt boys and girls.

3.) “Playoff Drought”: We are in a playoff drought? I hadn’t noticed.

2.) “Announcer Bias”: Clearly if Tom Brady is on the field, hero worship will follow out of the mouths of what are supposed to be unbiased commentators. Even without Brady on the field, the Buffalo Bills seem to get less love than their opponents. People love underdogs and good hard working teams, well people minus NFL commentators, most of them anyway.

1.) “Niagara Falls”: Hello Networks are you listening? Once again I am a little more critical because I was a journalist and notice these things but for heaven’s sake please stop showing Niagara Falls in your bump shots into and out of commercials like it is right around the corner. Google it. It is 34 miles away. If 34 miles is right around the corner then I digress.
