Fast forward to after the 2015-2016 NFL season. The Buffalo Bills have yet again missed the playoffs, extending the playoff drought to 16 years. Thankfully, it wasn’t all bad, as the defense once again led the league in sacks and brought the Bills to an above average 9-7 record. However, the problems seem to circulate around the Buffalo offense. The seemingly promising offense filled with playmakers has still managed to place bottom 10 in the league in terms of total offense. Where is the problem? How many times have Bills fans heard this story? I don't even think I can count on my fingers. The problem lies in the quarterback position. As much as I’d hate to actually see this scenario unfold once again, I believe it can be likely if there is subpar play at quarterback. With everything else set, (coaches, offensive skill players, defense), the fate of the Buffalo Bills relies on the guy who takes snaps under center every week. Would we be ready to give that player another chance after another below average season? Drafting another rookie quarterback to compete with the starters would only overcomplicate the situation. So where can we get someone who would start for sure? Here’s a clue: He goes by the name of Colin Kaepernick. Back to now. Trade rumors surround Kaepernick just like they seem to do every season, and even Kaepernick admits that he wants out. How can one blame him? The 49ers have suffered a terrible offseason, with losses of major key players, and most importantly, their entire coaching staff. Kaepernick will have to start the season without Frank Gore, Anthony Davis, Michael Crabtree, Mike Iupati, Stevie Johnson, and another colossal list of big name players on defense. At best, this is going to be a rough season for Kaepernick and the 49ers. Your San Francisco 49ers are going to be the league’s worst team this year. Ok. Too far. But they’ll be down there. Trading Kaepernick for a couple draft picks might even be prudent from the 49ers side if the rebuilding process is truly ready to begin. Where would he be traded to? Buffalo just might be the team. Here’s another interesting fact: Rex Ryan loves Kaepernick. In fact, he even wanted the Jets to draft Kaepernick back in 2012. The man in charge is already a Kaepernick fan. We also know that Kaepernick’s old Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman resides in Buffalo and will be running his old school style offense . Back in San Francisco, Kaepernick’s style of quarterback play blended well with Roman’s style of offense. If there’s one quarterback that could just step into Greg Roman’s system, it’s Colin Kaepernick. With the departure of Greg Roman from San Francisco, Steve Logan is the new man in town. He will take over the Niners offense and run a west coast style offense with some spread formations. Wait what? Yes, the 49ers will transition from a run heavy offense to a pass heavy offense. This is totally not what Colin Kaepernick is about; he’d be much better off in Bills land running a practically identical offense to what he was previously doing in San Francisco. For the people who think Colin Kaepernick isn’t the real deal… Think again. The mobile 27 year old has been one of the most fun to watch players in football:

The Nevada standout ran for more yards than Fred Jackson and threw for 3,369 yards last year. His career touchdown to interception ratio is about 5:2 and his career rating is 90.2, some things that no Bills quarterback in recent years has been able to come close to. Kaepernick would also bring playoff experience to the team, as he took the 49ers to the NFC championship in back to back years. The 49ers had all the pieces in play, and Colin Kaepernick was able to lead the team to success. What stops him from doing the same for Buffalo? The only thing the Bills are missing is an above average quarterback, and Kaepernick just might be that missing piece.
