The story doesn’t seem to want to go away, “LeSean McCoy says Chip Kelly is a racist.” Channeling his inner Stephen A. Smith, McCoy is sort of sounding like a talking head who is just saying crazy things to get attention. A lot of fans have gone on the offensive saying McCoy should “shut up” or “he’s just bitter” and/or his precious ego has been bruised. They may be right, but none of us know LeSean personally and really have any right to tell him what he can or cannot say/feel. Having said that, in the age of social media and instant reaction, everybody has a way to their opinion, in which we all are entitled too. Without further ado, here’s mine!

I have to strongly disagree with McCoy's comments because I don’t believe McCoy’s departure had anything to do with color. I don’t believe it had to do with McCoy money, it’s not like the Eagles were/are hurting for cap space. I certainly do not believe it had to do with McCoy’s perceived “regression,” but that’s a topic for another day. LeSean McCoy was eluding to the type of black players Chip is getting rid of. Not "star" black players (wouldn’t DeMarco Murray be considered a star?) like he stated, but I believe Kelly is getting rid of any players with the big personalities (McCoy and DeSean Jackson fit this description). However, like I said, I don’t believe it’s an issue of race. In my opinion, it's an issue of clashing egos and the type of culture Chip Kelly wants to implement. My line of thinking is Kelly seeks total control of the organization and doesn't want any of his decisions questioned or undermined in the locker room (McCoy agrees according to his ESPN Magazine interview). It’s well documented that McCoy was powerful voice in the Eagles locker room and I don’t think Chip Kelly wants any of that. McCoy made some good points, but he also makes himself look like a fool playing the race card. One would have to assume it stems from Kelly essentially backing Riley Cooper after his racial slur incident. Again, just assuming, but can’t think that sat well with McCoy.

Regardless, I hope we can put a fork in this story and get back to football. LeSean McCoy should just be happy he isn’t in Philadelphia anymore. Rex Ryan is the perfect type of personality to mesh with McCoy. Rex also has a well-known affinity for running the football. So in the words of the great Aaron Rodgers, I say to LeSean McCoy: “R-E-L-A-X.” Oh and in the words of every Bills Fanatic: “GO BILLS!”
