Brady’s Busted Balls May Inflate Buffalo Bills Momentum

The air release heard around the world: “Deflategate”. This afternoon the Wells Report came out about the investigation into Patriots staff deflating footballs before games. It concluded the Patriots Organization as a whole didn’t have knowledge of the footballs being deflated. The same report however did say “it is more probable than not that Tom Brady was at least generally aware of the inappropriate activities”.

So what does this have to do with the Buffalo Bills?

Every good story or rivalry has a bad guy and a good guy. The NFL has its bad guy: The Patriots. Sure Patriots fans and personnel will say the label is not warranted or my personal favorite that all the rest of the football organizations and fans of other teams are just jealous of their success. I would say that could be true IF there weren’t numerous incidents of wrongdoing. Yes, some of it won’t be proved because some criminals are really good at getting away with it.

The Bills are the good guys. They are the underdogs and the team many (even if it pains them to admit it) would like to see win. After losing four straight Super Bowls and the endless jokes (One of my favorites: What does BILLS stand for? Boy I Love Losing Super Bowls. From a person who has a career in writing and communications, I’d like to point out that would be BILLSB. Super Bowl is two words. Great job with that.) or the never-ending reference to “wide right”, the Bills have become the team everyone rallies around.

How else does this involve the Bills? If, and that is a HUGE IF, Tom Brady gets disciplined, he MIGHT have to sit out a game or two. The Bills play the Patriots the second game of the season. There is a slim chance Brady won’t be the quarterback for that game. It would greatly increase the Bills chances of winning that game and give the team even more momentum.

No matter what happens, punishment or not, when a bad guy keeps doing bad things, it only pushes the good guys to try even harder to defeat (or deflate in this case) them. I wouldn’t go as far as to thank the Patriots and Tom Brady for “Deflategate” but I will say the air they lost, will end up behind the wagon that everyone is circling.
