Three's Company?

New coaches, new players and seemingly new team but same old question -- who is the starting quarterback?
Tuesday put the four men on display who COULD lead the Buffalo Bills this season ( then again so could I at this point except for the obvious). Jeff Tuel, was already the underdog before they even hit the field. Rex Ryan admitted that he didn't get as many reps as the other three, the other three being the two "new" guys: Tyrod Taylor, Matt Cassel and "veteran" EJ Manuel.
Rex came right out and praised the top three guys at a press conference after Tuesday's volunteer mini-camp.
"The thing i noticed with Cassel is the ball comes out in a rhythm its here its boom boom boom hittin' it", Ryan said. "EJ was impressive to me today I still like to see it speeded up just a tad but he was impressive...and Tyrod made some huge plays today. I think he throw the deep ball extremely well and you put him on the move he's a dangerous weapon out there."
Although it seemed that Cassel has the head start in the so-called "quarterback competition", Rex didn't discount EJ's progress or Cassel's possible role in his success.
"With Cassel its boom boom. You see it. Even in drills you know you are running out routes bam the balls out there on time its just one of those things I think when ej sees it also he's like ok let me deliver it right here before he reaches that break that's when the ball needs to come out", Ryan said.
Learning from a veteran is what the Bills tried to do for Manuel last year. The Bills brought on Kyle Orton to act as a guide to help mold Manuel into a starting quarterback. Manuel said he learned something important from Orton: Resiliency.
"As a quarterback you can't get too high you can't get too low stay right in the middle whether things are going really good or things are going really bad", said Manuel. " You gotta be the same guy going back to that consistency level as far as being accurate and making good decisions in practice first then obviously that leads over into the game."
It remains to be seen if Manuel can prove himself and use what he has learned on the football field, whether the veteran Cassel still has some great years ahead of him and if the newer guy, Taylor has what it takes to lead.
"We are going to give them a platform that is going to showcase what they can all do and we'll see what happens." Yes Rex, we all will.
